Newsletter 16.12.11 Blog Edition

Newsletter 16th December 2011
We have had a wonderful end to the term. We enjoyed our visit to the Pantomime on Tuesday and the Junior Carol Concert was a lovely evening at the High St Methodist church. Well done to all of the children who have participated in events throughout the build up to Christmas.

A group of parents recently wrote to the Local Authority expressing concerns over the school entrance near Willow Court. The school had raised the matter with the Authority but had not received a response. Following the letters the council have contacted me this morning to say that they will be visiting the school to investigate the footpaths on the Willow Court entrance with a view to installing barriers. I will also be discussing adding yellow lines on the opposite corner to bring an end to people parking and blocking the disabled bay. I do find it increasingly frustrating that, despite repeated requests, parents continue to park opposite the school or on the corner, both of which are exceedingly inconsiderate. Please work with us to keep our children safe.

Well done to the Learners of the Week, we are very proud of you all.

We would really like to start a Gardening club either in lunchtime or after school. We do have members of staff willing to supervise the children but we are not able to run the club without parental support. If you would like to help out with Gardening club please speak to Mr Driver. We would like to enhance the quality of the school grounds as this needs some attention.

Newsletter 09.12.11

Well done to all of the children who have taken part in Nativity performances and Christmas events this week. You have made us very proud of you and the school. ‘Prickly Hay’ was a wonderful story performed beautifully by Years One and Two. Our EYFS class sang for their parents/carers and the choir excelled at the Rotary Carol Concert at the High St Methodist Church. Thank you to all of the staff for their hard work in ensuring that the children have these marvellous opportunities.

Thank you to the FOHBs for organising a fantastic Christmas Fair last weekend. It was a very successful event and it was lovely to see so many of our families. We greatly appreciate the money that you raise for our school, as well as the support of those who give up their time to help out. Please see the message from FOHBs later in the newsletter.

We have noticed that many of our children are becoming careless with school property and will be working to address this in the new year. Children may return home with payment slips for any item of school equipment that has been misused, lost or damaged. We are encouraging them to be accountable for their actions and to take greater care of their possessions. We hope you will support us with this initiative.

Please remember that we are going to the Pantomime on Tuesday afternoon so all children are bringing a packed lunch but infants will not need to bring in bookbags that day. We will be returning to school at 4pm.

We have had a number of occasions recently when the disabled parking bay has not been accessible. The parent has had to come in and use the school car park. It is essential that nobody parks on the corner opposite the school or disabled bay. The bay is used everyday for a pupil at this school. Please do park considerately.

FoHBs News
A huge thank you to everyone who helped at last Saturday’s Christmas Fayre. We raised over £2,900 which is a fantastic achievement and wouldn’t be possible without the many donations of time, prizes, bottles and cakes from everyone involved. A particular thank you must go to Helen Snowdon who spent Friday evening transforming the study base into Santa’s grotto, an enormous task which is much appreciated.
THANK YOU AGAIN AND MERRY CHRISTMAS!

HB Newsletter Blog Edition 2.12.11

It seems almost impossible that we are already into the month of December. At this busy time please do ensure that you have checked the diary dates carefully. We are all looking forward to the FoHBs Christmas Fair tomorrow so please do come along between 12 -3pm to support this event and invite friends and family members to join you. As a school we rely upon the money raised by FoHBs to help us purchase resources and equipment that we simply could not afford from the school budget. Recently £3000 was donated and six iPads have been purchased which will be ready for the children to use in the new term. FoHBs have also purchased the new role play furniture in Yr One, the new school library shelving and the chairs in Year Five. Please support this event and help us to raise as much money as possible whilst having an enjoyable afternoon.

There has been some confusion over the Rotary Carol Concert and Junior Carol Concert. The Rotary Carol Concert will be held on Wednesday 7th December at 7pm and only some choir members are required to attend this event. On Monday 12th December it is the Junior Carol Concert. All Junior children are required to attend this event and parents / carers are welcome to attend. More details will follow shortly.

Please ensure that all children have a warm, waterproof coat in school which is clearly named. A number of children are still coming into school in the mornings wearing only a jumper. If the weather is cold or wet and the children do not have suitable clothing they will not be allowed outside to play.

The final total for Children in Need was an amazing £418. Thank you all so much for your generosity.
Violins and woodwind instrumentalists will be holding their assembly at 10.30am on Monday and parents/ carers are invited to attend this event.

Well done to the Learners of the Week, we are very proud of you all.
