Parking and car problems!
I have received three complaints from parents/ carers and local residents about the driving and parking around the school.
I realise that the parking problem has been exacerbated by the workmen from the Willow Court building parking close to the school. However, this is no excuse for parking illegally and we are working with the authorities to find a solution to the problem. I have received two letters this week with photographs of illegal parking.
I also have the details of a black Volvo (61 registration) driving far too quickly near the school whilst children were attempting to cross the road. Please drive and park considerately.

Sport Relief
We are entering a High Beeches team into the Harpenden Sport Relief Mile on Sunday 25th March at 10.45am. Mrs Draycon will be team leader and will be running with the children. If your child would like to take part please register them online at:
http://my.sportrelief.com/search/event/result?id=1357#location=al5 they will also need to sign a register in the school office to enable us to track entrants.
As a consequence of our involvement in the ‘Mile event’ and our recent sponsorship event, we will not be running a mile during school time. However on Friday 23rd March we would like the children to come to school dressed in sporty clothes wearing the Sport Relief items that many of them have purchased.
We are keen for as many children as possible to join in with the mile. Please speak to Mrs Draycon for more information but specific details e.g. meeting times will be arranged nearer the day.

Sports News
Netball
The A team enjoyed their first victory of the season with a 1–0 win over St Nicholas on Monday. After a slow start the girls improved their passing and scored just after half time. The B team had another successful game and won 4-1. They were some lovely goals and all of the children defended much better. Players of the match A team - Jessica Nottingham and B team - Cory Fletcher

Football
The A team played at the local Sports Association Tournament on Tuesday. All Harpenden Primary Schools were involved and our boys performed outstandingly well. They beat Beech Hyde, Manland, St Helens and The Lea and drew against Crabtree and The Grove winning their group. In the semi-finals they were drawn against Redbourn. A very tight game ended 0-0 after ten minutes and went into extra time. Tiredness took its toll and unfortunately Redbourn scored the only goal High Beeches conceded all afternoon. The team should all be very proud of their performances in what is a very competitive tournament. Well done and thank you to all of the supporters, and especially to Mrs Hindle for providing trophies for the boys to recognise their extra special achievement.
